Utilization

Utilization is the act of using processes and resources for learning" (Seels & Richey, 1994, p. 46). This domain involves matching learners with specific materials and activities, preparing learners for interacting with those materials, providing guidance during engagement, providing assessment of the results, and incorporating this usage into the continuing procedures of the organization.

Reflection
During my coursework through ITMA, I have been prompted and again taught about the benefits of “knowing your learners.” Many students now are effected by a myriad of complexities and concerns that I certainly did not perceived while I was in school or in my early teaching years. Students with sensitive issues as well as talented learners are perceived differently. It is now up to the education system to provide balanced educational opportunities to these students while also not penalizing or damaging personal growth while enrolled. My classes are fully loaded with unique learners that require an appropriate approach while requiring all students to meet our classroom goals. It puts all participants in the same learning environment while netting common results. ITMA has reminded me of the grand opportunity to be able to teach special learners into becoming a function musical ensemble and that I am in control of my classroom environment.

Artifacts
